Annual report: Purdue ranked tops in innovation – Journal & Courier

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. − Purdue University has continued its streak of ranking in the top-10 of the U.S. News & World Report’s Most Innovative schools in the nation.
Purdue earned No. 7 Most Innovative school and No. 3 among public universities in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings.
These rankings continue the university’s streak to five consecutive years within the top 10 Most Innovative schools in the nation.
The following universities currently rank ahead of Purdue:
Purdue is ahead of Georgia Institute of Technology, California Institute of Technology and Johns Hopkins University in the top 10 list.
“We couldn’t be prouder that, once again, Purdue has been recognized as one of the country’s most innovative universities,” Jay Akridge, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity, said in a release.
“Boilermakers are innovators, and you can be sure that we are focused on delivering an even more impactful residential learning experience to our students going forward as we continue to seek pioneering solutions to the world’s most difficult challenges.”
Multiple Purdue ranking have been announced recently, with the university being ranked No. 6 internationally in utility patents in a report from the intellectual Property Owners Association and the National Academy of Inventors.
The following is a summary of Monday’s announced rankings by the U.S. News & World Report:
Agricultural and biological engineering, administered by the College of Agriculture and shared with the College of Engineering, is ranked second. Purdue’s computer science programs in the College of Science moved up two spots, to 16th place. The cybersecurity program ranks 7th, software engineering 10th and programming, data analytics and computing systems all take the 13th spot.
Purdue’s School of Management is 30th among business schools with the production/operations management program at No. 9, and the supply chain management/logistics program at No. 12.Analytics is 17th, management 30th and finance 36th, according to the release.
Purdue Global is also listed as among the best for economic diversity.
Purdue University Northwest (PNW) has also been recognized for its campus diversity along with several undergraduate programs in the same rankings list.
PNW has been ranked in the top 20 of Midwest regional universities for campus ethnic diversity. Among public institutions, PNW is ranked third.
PNW is also ranked 76 among Midwest regional universities for social mobility, which, according to a release, “measures how well a university graduates Pell Grant recipients.”
“Purdue Northwest’s increasing diversity is a point of pride for our institution,” PNW Chancellor Thomas L. Keon, said in a release. “PNW actively recruits and supports students from underserved populations and those who are first in their families to go to college. TRIO support services, our Office of Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives, and numerous scholarship opportunities are some of the many resources available to provide them an inclusive college experience.”
The university’s School of Engineering ranks 42nd nationally among engineering schools who offer bachelor’s or master’s degrees. PNW’s Bachelor of Nursing program was also included as one of the best national undergraduate nursing programs.
PNW’s undergraduate engineering programs earned a 3.2 out of 5 on the  Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology’s rating scale. This score is up from 2.9 in the 2021-2022 ranking.
