ATU Engineering Programs Recognized by Accreditors – ATU News

ABET, a non-profit organization that accredits college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology, has notified Arkansas Tech University that one of its academic programs has gained initial accreditation and two others will continue to be accredited.
“This is great news for our programs and our students,” said Dr. Julie Furst-Bowe, ATU interim vice president for academic affairs. “ABET is a very rigorous accreditation agency, and I commend our leadership in the ATU College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and our faculty members for all of their work in meeting their criteria.”
The ATU Bachelor of Science degree program in computer engineering received its initial accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET Inc.
The ATU Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree program and the ATU Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree program continue to be accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET Inc.
“ABET accreditation of our engineering programs demonstrates that these programs meet standards developed by internationally recognized engineering societies and provide the education for our students to enter the global workforce,” said Dr. Judy Cezeaux, dean of the ATU College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
