Caintic named DICT acting secretary – The Manila Times

EMMANUEL Rey Caintic, the undersecretary for Digital Philippines, has been appointed by Malacañang as the Department of Information and Communications Technology's (DICT) acting secretary.
This comes after former secretary Gregorio Honasan 2nd resigned after filing his certificate of candidacy for senator on October 8 this year.
Caintic, who is currently in Bohol supporting recovery efforts in the wake of Typhoon “Odette,” vowed to continue to build on the accomplishments of the department in driving digital transformation in the country.
“Our marching orders remain the same: to connect all Filipinos to the benefits of the digital economy, wherever they are in the country. For quality public service, do what is right; do it right; and do it faster,” Caintic said.
Manny, as he is commonly called, has a dual degree in physics and computer engineering from the Ateneo de Manila University.
Prior to his service in government, he has had more than two decades of experience in digital transformation, enterprise architecture and systems implementation in various ventures.
He served as an adviser to executive management teams of both local and international organizations in the public and private sectors in information technology governance, project management and operations.
Manny Caintic was appointed assistant secretary for Digital Philippines of the DICT in July 2019.
He was later promoted to undersecretary for Digital Philippines in 2021 where he continued to reinforce the administration's National Broadband Program and the Free Wi-Fi for All by expediting its rollout and expanding its coverage, and the oversight functions over the Digital Cities and Provinces Program or “Digital Cities 2025” to further spur the IT-business process management industry's development and investment in the countryside.
