HBKU launches bachelor's in computer engineering – The Peninsula Qatar

DOHA: Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation, is launching the first bachelor’s degree to be delivered by its College of Science and Engineering.
Applications are open for students seeking to apply for the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, with classes beginning in fall of 2015.
The programme will offer an advanced curriculum delivered by expert faculty, an abundance of research, and inspiring senior design projects.
Students will be given the opportunity to explore the design of real-world computer engineering systems and get exposed to real-life challenges through a design component integrated into the programme as well as through a final year project.
Students are able to take courses provided by Texas A&M University at Qatar and Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, in addition to comprehensive courses from HBKU.
The approach will provide students with a well-rounded understanding of computer science and electronic engineering, giving them skills and knowledge needed to explore rewarding careers or further study.
“Computer engineers solve advanced engineering problems in hardware, software, systems, networks and communications spanning not only computer applications but also consumer products, embedded systems and large systems,” said Dr Mounir Hamdi, Dean, College of Science and Engineering.
“Computer engineers make everyday devices and appliances more efficient, faster, cheaper, smarter and safer. They also develop large systems needed to operate critical infrastructure such as the Internet, banking networks and smart power grids.
“Our new programme will provide computer engineers of tomorrow with the opportunity to fast track their knowledge, thanks to the support of outstanding faculty plus the opportunity to learn from experts within some of our partner institutions from across Education City.” the peninsula
