Applications are invited for a Research Assistant with a Computer Science or Electronic/Computer Engineering background to develop computational models of deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease in collaboration with Boston Scientific.
Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is an effective, safe and reversible method for treating the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and other neurological disorders. It involves implanting electrodes in the brain to stimulate neurons responsible for symptoms including tremor, slowed movement, and stiffness. In this project we will be working with Boston Scientific to develop and refine computational models of DBS to guide device programming. We require a Research Assistant with strong analytical and computational modelling skills to develop and simulate finite element models of DBS and of neural excitation.
