Sullivan Elected Co-Chair at CCOE – San Diego Business Journal

San Diego’s Cyber Center of Excellence (CCOE) has announced the election of Pat Sullivan as co-chairman of the board.
Sullivan succeeds Rear Adm. Ken Slaght, CCOE’s founding chairman and president, who retired from his CCOE post in December. Sullivan joins Kris Virtue of Qualcomm as a leader of the board, dedicated to helping CCOE grow the regional cyber economy and create a more secure digital community for all.
Sullivan previously worked as executive director for NAVWAR, the U.S. Navy’s information technology command. While in leadership at NAVWAR, he was a founding member of CCOE’s advisory board. He helped guide and develop CCOE’s programs to seed and diversify the talent pipeline, increase regional resiliency and drive collaborative innovation.
At NAVWAR, Sullivan led a global workforce of more than 11,000 employees who delivered and sustained IT and communications technology for the U.S. military. He was recognized by the president for mitigating the effects of a major cyber intrusion into Navy networks. He also developed a vision for redeveloping the Navy’s 70-acre NAVWAR headquarters site to create a new campus that accommodates potential civilian development while meeting the Navy’s current information technology needs.
Sullivan served on the board of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation from 2016 to 2020.
He received his bachelor of science in electrical and computer engineering as well as his master of science in electrical engineering and applied physics from UC San Diego.
Following his retirement from federal service, he is CEO of his own consulting firm.
CCOE’s president and CEO is Lisa Easterly.
