At the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Institute of Communication Technology, the Deutsche Telekom Chair of Communication Networks offers a position as
Research Associate (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
starting as soon as possible. The position is initially limited until September 30, 2025. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).
Tasks: We seek applications for a position in Quantum Technologies for the theoretical and experimental realization of Quantum key Distribution protocols for future 6G industrial networks. Low latency will be a critical key performance indicator (KPI) in future 6G communication networks. Moreover, the role of QKD will be pivotal to achieve efficient security in the industrial network with Mobile Edge Computing (MEC). In this context, the seamless integration of quantum communications and 6G industrial networks will be an important step to achieve the KPIs. You will study, design and realise the link layer functionalities, protocols, and interfaces, with quantum physical layer and network layer. The characteristics of the link layer will also help in the link-level control of the QKD procedures, including the medium access procedures and the management of the requests.
Requirements: university degree (Diploma/Master) in electrical or electronic engineering, telecommunications engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or equivalent. Candidates should be proficient in English and have good oral and written communication skills. Strong programming skills are highly recommended. Knowledge of quantum mechanics and focus on experimental physics can be a plus.
